Today’s the day!!!!! So begins the epic journey of the Roadstrippers!! We woke up at the crack of dawn to pack the car and make breakfast. It’s 7:23 and we’ve made it to the highway with an ETA 11:42. I’ll post edits as the day goes on!
11:42: We stopped at Kawhea lake to meet up with a friend and check out some ~sweet views~ Our friend Jenny is our fifth roadstripper (for a few days) so we met up with her to drive the rest of the way to Sequoia! The drive has been so cool and diverse but I’m excited to see the forest!
(Edit) For some reason my phone didn’t save my afternoon post (I’m sorry!!!) BUT I will say that we got to the park around 3 after driving up the wildly curvy mountain to set up camp. The forest is way way cooler temperature wise than the base of the mountain so we were way more comfortable once we made it to the top. We got all out stuff together to drive down the mountain a little to get to Moro rock for our first hike!
10:44- Wow we’ve had quite the day. Moro rock was totally not what I expected it to be but it was still really cool. It was about 400 stairs carved up a rock face with a breath taking view. We’ve had so much fun together today and we’ve all opened up (even if it’s not out of the ordinary to do so). We were gonna make a quick dinner and try to go watch the sun set but wound up making dinner and having some beers and just hanging out for the evening. Nick and Carlos made a badass fire that we sat around and chatted for a while. We had a long conversation trying to decide what to do for the next few days but I think we’re set to stay on track! We got some advice that it might be too hot to spend much time in Death Valley but I’m super excited to be able to spend time there, even if it winds up being 15 minutes. We’ve started out the trip with some great fortune and I’m really excited to work together with everyone in the coming weeks!
Stay curious and happy travels!
