We woke up early (again) this morning to pack up camp and do another hike before it got too hot. We wind up getting to the little kaibab trail around 8; it was 1.5 miles of steep switchbacks down to the post but the view was so so different from the hike we did yesterday but it was still so beautiful. This hike offered a much broader view of the canyon, leaving the hiker feeling very small.
After the hike we started our 6 hour trek to Joshua tree National Park only to learn that we weren’t gonna make it in time to the visitors center. As we drove into the park, things got a little bizarre. Everyone felt kinda off and as we went back into town (the kind lady at the visitors center left some stamps for Nick and Carlos) and things just got weirder and weirder. We all decided that the universe was telling us that this wasn’t our time in regards to the park, so we are currently back on the road returning to San Pedro!
Edit: We have arrived!!! This officially marks the end of our road trip (even though we’ll be in San Pedro for another two days) and it’s gonna take a while to process the fact that we’ve been traveling for TWO WEEKS!!!! It flew by, I’ve hardly even let it settle in.
I will be posting updates on locations, gear, pictures, and a lot more in the weeks to come as I really look back on everything. I want to make sure that I look back on this trip and learn how to move forward in the camping world and what one really needs for a good, hearty, old-fashioned, car camping road trip. This experience has taught me so freaking much about myself and it’s been so amazing.
Once I’m all up to date with road trip info, I’ll be moving on to my next adventure- FARMING!!!!! I’ll give the low-down on all that as soon as this part of my journey has ended!
Stay Curious and happy travels!
