We woke up at 6 to hop in the car and catch the sunrise at sunrise point. It was chilly but really nice to sit on the cliff edge of the amphitheater in the quiet and enjoy. The colors were incredible and the way the sun rose above the amphitheater was really amazing.
After sunrise we ate a quick snack then headed for navajo loop trail, a quick hike into the amphitheater to check out the scenery from a new perspective. The hike was short and moderate, with lots of switchbacks and some really cool caves and sights. Unfortunately for me, my blisters from Zion were making it very difficult to walk the 1.3 mile loop, but it was still tons of fun and super beautiful. After the hike we headed back to our site to grab our toiletries and shower- that’s right, SHOWER!!! We paid $3 for an 8 minute shower token and boy was it GLORIOUS! My skin was starting to become irritated with the amount of grime and dirt that was building up on it so thank god we had that opportunity.
After packing up the site and repacking the car, we made the 4 hour treck to goblin valley state park to check out the unique rock formations. The Park was cool and the formations were super neat but it was hot so we skipped ahead to finish the drive to Moab where the famous Arches are. When we got to the city we split up- one car to search for campsites and the other to get food. We were lucky enough to be able to communicate for a little and find out, to our misfortune, that all the campsites were full. We decided to look into hotels and Airbnb’s, which were both wildly expensive in comparison to the $20 campsites we’ve been staying in, when we got a call about a lucky find- a group site that was available!! We drove up the mountain and got to the site and were so relieved. We had a quick dinner and played some card games into the night before crashing. Whatever luck is following us around on this trip has been amazing and we’re so lucky to have it!
Stay curious and happy travels!
