Today we slept in a little because we stayed up hanging out with our new friends until around 12:30. After we woke up, we cleaned up the campsite and had a delicious breakfast of eggs and pancakes with the guys. At 11 we checked out and headed north toward Bryce national park, driving around the other side of Zion. The drive was really cool and fairly short, filled with tons to see. Once we got past the far side of Zion we drove through Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest which was BEAUTIFUL. What was particularly cool was the fact that it was raining and the rocks were a deep rusty red when wet.

Unfortunately we’re only spending one night in Bryce but I’m really excited to see the amphitheater and the park in all its glory! Updates to come!

Edit: we made it to Bryce and luckily there were tons of walk on campsites available. We snagged one and set our stuff up only to have it POUR on us. The weather and temperature, apparently, are like that on a normal basis- unpredictable and fluctuating. We drove to the visitors center to see what there was for us to do and wound up driving the scenic route to check out some of the parks most popular view points: yovimpa point, rainbow point, and natural bridge. Before the sunset hit we drove to Bryce point to check out the amphitheater and let me tell you, this place is WILD. The sunset was cloudy but still colorful and incredible. Since it was pretty freezing after the sun went down, we went back to camp and made dinner (in the rain), ate (in the car), then went to sleep in the sub 60 degree temperatures. It was nice to finally be able to wear a sweatshirt and enjoy weather that wasn’t above 100 degrees, but the rain was tough.

Stay curious and happy travels!
